Petter Solberg // Impreza // Ouninpohja
After retiring on Stage4 of the Rally of Finland, Petter Solberg continued to drive the stages under the Super Rally rule...Effectively free from risk and concern over the WRC Championship Petter and Phil Mills were free to attack the Ouninpohja record previously set by the legend Colin McCrae. To say that they were absolutely on it is an understatement.
Ouninpohja for those that are new to WRC is one of the most famous stages in the WRC, well-known for its high speed, sweeping corners, blind crests and big jumps. I think after watching this video and not only freeking out at the skill of Mr Solberg and the incredible pace notes of Mr Savage, you will agree that this place is the place that can make or break Man!

Phil - Petter's co-driver's name is Phil Mills. Easy for you to remember ;-)
Words fail me. I thought I knew how to co-drive, watched the first 20 seconds of this and realised I know nothing. Nothing at all. I'd love to put a heart monitor on the two of them through that stage, just to know what's happening to their pulses.
The highlight has to be watching them drive at clinically insane speeds for six minutes and 25 seconds, way beyond the edge of lunacy, then Mills says "Right it speeds up now". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Thanks for that. I never tire of watching on board WRC footage but driving that stage at those speeds really takes balls the size of small planets.
