A Winter Track Day // Dubai Autodrome

Last weekend saw an early morning rise and some serious excitement from my perspective...more on that soon! So after a nice brew and a bit of food I pulled the cover off my car and made the 5 minute drive around the Arabian Ranches to the Dubai Autodrome.

I hadn't been to a track day in a while as the racing season is stealing the fun budget, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a full car park and some pretty cool and different cars out ready for some fun. Porsches aplenty, Ferrari's, Caterhams, Radicals, Porsche Cup Cars, KTM's and a bonkers EVO to name but a few.

As always - CLICK ON FOR MORE PICS

I couldn't resist this shot of a Porsche 993 RS basking in the early morning sunshine...Sadly the car didn't make it out n the track though...Next time maybe!

As you can see it was a gorgeous day in Dubai - It's not often we get blue skies and fluffy clouds.

Clerk of the Course as always Mr Fraser Martin was on hand to orchestrate the day and ensure all happened as it should! I heard he had to get the glare out more than a couple of times though as stern words where had to those not abiding by "Track Day" etiquette. There are more than a few that seem to think that it is a race day after all.

The Continental-Circus Radical SR8 was out with Owner Eric Charles behind the wheel...This car is now for sale so if you are after a Radical please contact us through the contact form.

New School water pumpers and Old School Air Coolers....Oh and a Scud!

I still wonder whether Fraser is asking Cabell Fisher of Khaleji Motorsport to not go to crazy in the ex Risi ALMS GT2 Ferrari or whether he is asking for a go?

For those that don't know the chap on the right is Alex Renner - He of ARM...

On board in an SR8 with my camera flailing around...pretty hard work to get the shot when the car is pulling 3g.

My Team Mate at Gulf-Sport racing and all round cool chap Mohammed Al-Arishy in his beautifully prepared BMW 330. The car was initially built by Black Falcon in Germany so you can trust my comments regarding it's integrity.

Surely the best car for track action...The owner of this one seemed to be having a laugh a minute in between a couple of mechanical glitches.

Winner of the best looking livery out there? Tareq was another driver out testing....

Saif Al Assam was out in his meticulously prepared Porsche 997 Cup car banging in the testing mileage on the National Circuit...As always ARM was on hand with their crack team of mechanics to ensure all was the way it was supposed to be.

You would not believe the amount of effort and work that has gone into this car. It wouldn't be wrong to say that it might just be one of the most insane Evo X builds on the planet at the moment. When Big Fred gets it ticking as it should on paper it will be a true force to be reckoned with.

A cheeky bit of CrankandPiston.com branding hiding away on the end plate of the MASSIVE rear wing aboard the rump of the Khaleji Motorsport 997 Cup Car...

Thank you for those kind words, Mr McGovern, but I was categorically NOT asking for a go in Cabell's loud Ferrari - I know my place! (apart from which I don't really want to discover, in such august company, that I'm maybe not as good as I think I am!).

I did have the 'glare' out a couple of times though: I'm even thinking of trying for a bit-part in the next X-Men movie!
