2014 Dubai 24 Hours. It’s all about the colour

What better way to look back at a stella event than with gut loads of incredible images?

Well the ninth running of the Dubai 24 Hours is done and dusted, and as we sit here ploughing through the myriad images collated during the weekend, we can’t help but wish we could run the weekend all over again.

Ignoring the sleep deprivation for a moment, the Dubai 24 Hours itself is a shining beacon of motorsport in the Middle East, pulling together a community to an impressive level for an endurance race held but once a year at the Dubai Autodrome. It might have felt a touch more professional this year, but that doesn’t detract from the event. It was mighty, bustling and full of cracking racing and spectacle.

The over riding element that this particular writer feels, however, is that in a region so besotted with the machine, speed and supercars in particular (and let’s not forget those two Bernie Ecclestone races held annually at Bahrain and Yas Marina), there wasn’t an overwhelming volume of people in attendance.

Yes the numbers felt up on last year, but there was more people wandering around the ornate flower garden just on the outskirts of the track than the circuit itself. Sad? Certainly. Worthy of more effort to bring people in and show them a good show? Of course.

So take these pictures, enjoy them and share them with everyone you know. I still bump into people that had no idea the event was one, and that means you do too.
