From the Nurburgring and the surrounding roads of the Eiffel Mountains, to the Trollstigen in Norway, and even to our very own Jebel Hafeet, special roads are dotted all over the globe. Rhys Millen and the Red Bull crew have been on the hunt like most of us, and they have well and truly pulled it out of the bag.

The Serra do Rio do Rastro is undoubtedly a killer liquorice strip of man made goodness. Located in the southeast of the state of Santa Catarina in Southern Brazil, it makes for the most perfect drift road and Rhys was certainly up for the challenge.

From what we can gather, the aim of the Red Bull Extreme Drift Event which took place on the 11th and 12th November, was for Rhys to establish a record for the longest distance covered in one drift.

The weapon of choice – a Hyundai Genesis Coupe – spits out no less than 750bhp through the rear wheels. You can imagine what the 9km+ run did to the rubber on the rears then!! Reportedly six sets of tires went up in smoke in just one day.

A road that they say is twice as twisty as the formidable Pikes Peak will no doubt be forever immortalised by Rhys, Red Bull and this video. Brazil has something very precious in its hands and someone, somewhere, will realise that hosting more events there will direct the attention of the world towards them.
